SPF: The Shield

Before applying foundation or concealer, people usually apply primer to have a clean canvas. Having a smooth surface typically means the application will glide on easily.

But before primer, moisturizing and applying sunscreen should be the first step.

Sunscreen is recommended by various dermatologists, experts of the skin. Sunscreen helps protect against dangerous UV rays from the sun. Despite only seeing clouds and no sun, there are still many of the UV rays we can’t see with the naked eye but our skin can.

Sunscreen helps combat premature aging skin. By constantly applying and using sunscreen, wrinkles can be somewhat avoided. To keep the skin looking smooth and fresh, sunscreen protects the skin’s collagen, keratin and elastin that helps to maintain your skin’s smoothness.

Dark skin tones may seem to not need sunscreen but if looked under a microscope, dark spots will appear. Darker tones can still be affected and have hidden skin diseases not easily identified.

For fair skin tones, sunscreen helps to prevent sunburns and dark spots from forming on the skin. Sunburns are painful and can cause peeling which is not the best for any skin.

Another great reason to wear sunscreen is that it can help prevent skin cancer! But for those who may not want to buy a separate product or seem to not like any sunscreen, mixing a tinted moisturizer with SPF along with your regular foundation is a great alternative.

Or purchasing a foundation, tinted moisturizer, or BB cream with SPF is great to keep your skin feeling and looking good. An affordable product to try is the No7® Dual Action Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 15.
